I’ve been playing drums 35 years and love this kit. I owned and recorded several cds worth of music on my old TD-8. This is a massive improvement. The mesh heads are actually more fun to play than real. The learning curve I had to experience with the hard rubber old heads is gone with this.

There’s only 12 kits but honestly the TD=8 had a lot of goofy stuff on it that I never used (Voices, Cartoon, etc.) This is straight up studio quality drum sounds that I use in my ProTools studio.

I gotta say, in response to the review that the rack is small. It’s EXACTLY the same size as the 2 other Roland Racks I have. I’m 6’2″, 185lb. I’m tall and lanky and this kit is fine for me. I find that I actually have everything on the lowest position. I’m a Ringo, punk rock style set up drummer, with the heads lowr and flatter. Kinda Clem Burke of Blondie style. I guess if you are used to the Metal, or really high in the air style set up you might be disappointed, but even then, I gotta say, I can’t see how any one could have an issue with the rack. The cymbals can go WAY up in the air. Everything is capable of being raised waaaay too high for my style.

I love it, love the totally flawless organic wood sounds, and was even able to add parts from my other Roland racks I have.
I use it almost exclusively for studio. Even though I have a set of Gretsch Catalinas that sound awesome. I totally prefer these and the Midi freedom they provide for recording.
